Shell Energy is committed to giving back to the communities in which we operate, and supporting initiatives that make a positive impact.

Our focus is on inspiring the next generation of STEM professionals who can help shape a better energy future and empowering others through the causes our people are passionate about.

Igniting enthusiasm and learning for a career in STEM

Deadly Coders

Deadly Coders is a program that aims to level the playing field for participation in STEM, by delivering engaging educational programs in digital technologies to Indigenous students.

The program, delivered in partnership with Junior Engineers, encourages participation in STEM subjects in schooling years, at a tertiary level, and for a career. Its aim is to impart fundamental skills to set First Nations students up for success in STEM-related fields and to help build an inclusive and diverse future STEM workforce.

Shell Energy is proud to have entered into a three-year partnership with Deadly Coders to deliver coding and robotics workshops and the development of an online learning portal, to develop skills for the future and sustainable learning pathways. Robogals

Robogals is a volunteer-based university-organisation that runs robotics workshops to encourage primary and high school students to pursue STEM. Student volunteers come from a wide range of disciplines from engineering to design to commerce and are all united under the cause of gender equity in engineering and technology.

Shell Energy has partnered with Robogals to run engineering and technology workshops in the communities in which we operate, focusing on encouraging girls from primary to secondary school to explore an interest, as well as cultivate self-confidence, in these areas.

Dream Big

Dream Big is a not-for-profit organisation focussed on empowering young women and non-binary students from university to industry in STEAM (science, technology engineering, arts and mathematics) careers. Shell Energy began its partnership with Dream Big in 2023, supporting our existing diversity and inclusion practices by connecting with talented students studying STEAM.

Members of our highly-skilled Trading and Supply team are connected with students to provide helpful career coaching conversations and attend industry showcase events to highlight opportunities offered by a career in energy.

The partnership also ensures that Dream Big is able to continue delivering its award-winning career development and networking program, STEAM Ahead, to women and non-binary students around Australia.

Women in Digital

QUT Undergraduate Scholarship for women

Since 2019, Shell Energy has partnered with QUT’s Science and Engineering Faculty on the Undergraduate Scholarship for Women in IT. Women make up just 27% of the workforce across all STEM industries and just 36% of enrolments in university STEM courses1. As an energy retailer, we recognise that building a talented population equipped with the skills needed to meet the growing energy demand is critical in communities where we operate. STEM education is key to the energy transition and is why we’re passionate about providing career pathways and learning opportunities in these fields.

Our scholarship program with QUT provides an opportunity for undergraduates to gain real on the job experience to become technology leaders. The program was established as part of our continued commitment and investment in improving diversity both within their business and STEM fields of work. The scholarship is valued up to $20,000 and is open to undergraduate final year students enrolled in full-time studies in Information Technology, Engineering (Computer and Software Systems) or relevant double degrees.
